Attorney John O. Mancini is a founding partner and shareholder with the Mancini Carter, PC., law firm in Providence, Rhode Island. A highly versatile attorney licensed to practice in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, Mr. Mancini represents a diverse range of clients across all three states.
In his practice, John has represented major real estate developers, construction companies and financial institutions in Rhode Island and Massachusetts on such matters as commercial office projects, shopping centers, planned unit and condominium developments (residential and commercial), financing, general and limited partnerships, and joint ventures. John’s business and real estate practice often leads him to address such issues as environmental concerns, title disputes, easements and construction litigation.
A 1995 cum laude graduate of Boston College, Mr. Mancini attended Boston University School Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1998. Along with practicing before all Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut state courts, her is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit.
Voted by Rhode Island Monthly magazine and recognized by Super Lawyers, as one of the state’s top business litigation and real estate attorneys for the past several years, Mr. Mancini is wide regarded as a leader in his field, as he writes extensively and conducts lectures across his region on a variety of legal topics. A consummate professional, he is an active member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association, and he served a six-year term on the Cranston City Council, where he was chair or vice chair for several of the council’s committees.
Additionally, John has a leadership role in the firm’s management, responsible for the day-to-day operations, and the firm’s plans for future growth. His goal at Mancini Carter is to develop attorneys that are competent, compassionate, and passionate professionals. John’s dedication, responsiveness, and temperament have been the benchmark of his success and the premise of Mancini Carter’s mission.
Prior to starting Mancini Carter, PC, John worked as a partner for fifteen (15) years at a Providence based real estate law firm and previously worked as an associate at Edwards & Angell assisting on numerous leasing and acquisition transactions for clients throughout the Northeast, including CVS Corporation and Fleet National Bank. John started his legal career at Holland & Knight (F/K/A McGovern, Noel & Benik), where he represented numerous developers in respect to the acquisition and development of real estate.
In the community, John has been involved as a local councilman, where he was first elected in 1996 to the Cranston City Council. John served as a city-wide councilman representing 80,000 residents from 1996 to 2002. As a city-wide councilman, John was the chairman of the finance committee, vice chair of the ordinance committee, and member of the public works and claims committee. In 2004, John ran for Mayor of Cranston, where he was the Democratic contender. John gathered thirty (30%) percent of the votes in 2004 and learned that the majority of the residents of the City of Cranston felt he would be a better Attorney than Mayor.
John’s municipal legislative experience is of unique and invaluable benefit to clients as he assists and counsels them through the process of real estate development and agency approval. Because of his first-hand knowledge, John has ushered numerous residential and commercial client projects through the maze of Rhode Island’s regulatory approval processes.
